There are literally 100,000,000 blogs out there. That’s a third the size of the United States population. Obviously many of those bloggers are non-U.S. residents, but the sheer number of blogs on the internet is staggering. Yet, from years of separating the wheat from the chaff, I’ve come across some small business blogs that are mandatory to my daily reading fixation, even if I’m too busy to read the other 50 or so blogs in my feedreader.
One of the bloggers I’ll be talking about over the next few Monday’s actually inspired me to transition from journalism into marketing in the first place. His blog is a personal favorite of mine, but I’m more than willing to nominate one of your favorite small business blogs in the spirit of fairness. I’ll start things off this week with #5, so you better come with one that’s up to par with these.
Sometime in early 2005 before I moved back to San Luis Obispo, CA from Orange County, I came across Small Business Brief. As a fledgling entrepreneur at the time, I was mostly overjoyed to see the collection of small business resources they had and used the site as a filter to the things I needed to learn. The more time I spent going through their resources, the more time would fly by.
The site is not based so much on original content, but rather aggregating well-written articles covering just about any topic a small business owner would need to know about. They do write some very good articles from time to time, but the true value for me is the ease of finding a variety of up-to-date sources on the matters I spend my day thinking about. Think Original Signal for small business needs.
If you find yourself using Google to search for small business information more than a few times a week, you’d be doing yourself a favor to just bookmark or add this site to your feedreader. It will save you loads of time and your guaranteed to find the most current information out there.
